Hiking at Island Lake Lodge
Set across 7,000 acres of spectacular mountain terrain, our property is home to an incredible diversity of landscapes ranging from sweeping alpine bowls to crystal-clear streams, panoramic mountain vistas and ancient cedar forests.

Whether you’re looking for a leisurely nature stroll or a challenging mountain ascent, the terrain offers something for every pace and experience level. Private Guided Hikes
Private Guided Hikes are available as both half-day and full-day experiences, offering an unforgettable way to explore some of the area’s most scenic trails.
Half-Day Guided Hikes range from 1 to 3.5 hours in length and are tailored to participant ability, with difficulty levels ranging from easy to moderate. Half-day hikes are priced at $89 per person, with departures available at 8:45 AM or 12:45 PM.
Full-Day Guided Hikes begin at 8:30 AM and average 4+ hours in duration. These hikes are best suited for guests seeking a more challenging alpine experience, with difficulty levels ranging from moderate to difficult. Full-day hikes are $129 per person.
A minimum of two participants is required for all Private Guided Hikes. All hikes must be booked a minimum of 48 hours in advance. To reserve your experience, please call 250-423-3700.
Important Note About Heiko's Trail:
Island Lake Lodge has non-operational days and private function weekends where there is no motorized road access beyond the lower parking lot. Please plan your visit. Those wishing to hike Heiko's during those dates, please work in the extra 8km it adds. Heiko's trail is not on Island Lake property and is not mainted by Island Land. All hikers should register with us at least 24 hours prior to the hike if you are planning to drop off a vehicle on our property overnight. Please call 250-423-3700.
Preparation & Liability Notice:
Hiking around Island Lake Lodge involves many risks, dangers and hazards. By participating in hiking, you willingly accept all the risks, dangers and hazards and the possibility of injury, death, property damage or loss therefrom. The trails are recreational trails used at no charge within Section 3(3.3)(c) of the Occupiers' Liability Act, and Island Lake Lodge assumes no liability for any activity on the recreational trails. The trails are not monitored, and users are responsible for their own safety.
Ensure you are prepared for your hike and hike within your physical limits. Check weather, trail and wildlife conditions prior to starting your hike. Stay on the trails. The trails are two-way and are used by hikers, runners and bikers – be alert and watch for others.
Please note that prior to participating in a Group Guided Hike or Guided Hike, participants must review and agree to Island Lake Lodge’s Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement (the “Waiver”) as a condition of participating in guided hiking.
