Standby List & Last-Minute Opportunities


In addition to our pre-scheduled Single Day Catskiing trips, short-notice seat(s) on tours may become available. We maintain a standby list for guests interested in day-skiing opportunities if space opens up. Any available day-ski seats will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that last-minute day-skiing is not part of regular operations and is considered a special offering during winters when conditions allow.

WAIVER REQUIRED

All participants must review and agree to Island Lake Lodge’s Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement (the “Waiver”) as a condition of participating in day catskiing. If the Waiver is not completed, the individual will not be permitted to participate.

This Waiver requirement applies to all guests who wish to participate in your reservation. By signing the Waiver, you will waive or give up certain legal rights, including the right to sue for negligence, breach of contract, or breach of the Occupiers' Liability Act or claim compensation following an accident. The Waiver can be viewed and downloaded here. You will not be eligible for a refund based on any failure or refusal to sign the Waiver.

If you are signing up for other guests, it is your responsibility to notify them of this waiver requirement and provide them with a link to, or a copy of, the Waiver for their review.

Your Day at a Glance

Arrive: Island Lake parking lot no later than 7:45 AM (no late arrivals accepted. Refunds will not be granted to late arrivals).
Safety Briefing: Conducted at the lodge before skiing
Cat Skiing: Full day with guides, includes lunch/snacks in the snowcat
Return: Cat back to lodge by 4:00 PM
Après Ski: Bear Lodge at 4PM
Transport Back: To lower parking lot by 4:45 PM

What's Included

All Single Day Catskiing trips include return-trip cat transportation from our lower parking lot, a full day of guided catskiing complete with safety training and avalanche safety pack, as well as lunch, snacks, and beverages in the alpine. After your day on the mountain, enjoy après ski snacks in the Bear Lodge. All necessary avalanche safety equipment, including a transceiver, probe, shovel, and radio, is also provided. Please note that gratuity and alcoholic beverages are not included.

What to Bring

Be sure to bring your skis or snowboard, boots, goggles, gloves, helmet, and layered clothing to stay comfortable throughout the day. You’ll also want to pack a water bottle that fits in your backpack, along with sunscreen and a camera to capture the experience. 

Cancellation Policy

If Island Lake has to cancel due to conditions, the day skier will receive a full refund. Island Lake will advise guests no later than 48 hours in advance. 

What to Expect

You can expect an average of 10 runs a day, depending on the level of ability of the group.  The skiing includes breathtaking bowls, exciting tree runs or gentle rolling slopes with a variety of aspects and pitches. 

Safety Training

The beginning of the day commences with safety training provided by our guides. Please note, under no circumstance will a skier/boarder partake in cat skiing unless they have completed this training. Please see our website for further safety details.

Ability

We recommend that guests are strong, confident, and intermediate to advanced skiers/boarders with some powder skiing experience. You can read more about our expectations for ability levels here.

Food

Each guest will have access to sandwiches/wraps/buns, fruit, chocolate bars, vegetables, snacks, (non-alcoholic) beverages throughout the day.
